A new venture designed to encourage young travellers to broaden their horizon is proving to be a big hit with schoolchildren.

Timmy the Travelling Bear was the brainchild of Lorraine Jeffries, Branch Manager at Central England Co-operative Travel in Alvaston, and Assistant Manager Sarah
Stevens in a bid to help youngsters discover more about the exciting places they visit when heading off on holiday.

All youngsters have to do is take ‘Timmy’ with them, take some pictures to be shared via social media on @mycoopfood and then fill in a specially created question and answer sheet to show how much they have learned from their adventures.

The new venture has so far been a huge success and now Central England Co-operative Travel in Alvaston has teamed up with Alvaston Junior School to try and help broaden the horizons of even more youngsters.

Lorraine said: “Here at Central England Co-operative Travel in Alvaston, we have been pioneering a new venture to encourage the young travellers of today and tomorrow to discover something exciting about the places they visit.

“Whether it is on an overseas trip, a family day out, or a UK break, we would all love to learn an interesting fact about trips by youngsters as they holiday across the world via Timmy the Travelling Bear

“Timmy enjoys travelling and would love to venture out with families and at the same time youngsters can answer a few questions regarding where they have been to give them an opportunity to learn more about travel.

“We look forward to seeing Timmy and his adventures with youngsters from across the area.”

Anyone interested in helping to fulfil Timmy’s travelling dream should contact Alvaston Travel Branch on 01332 752296 or call into the store.
