Our Business Graduate Scheme

We heard from Sarah O’Reilly and her experience so far. Our other business graduate, Joanne Baldock summarises her graduate placement so far.

Since joining Midlands Co-operative Society in September on their two year Business Graduate Scheme, I have joined a fast paced environment, been given impeccable support and development opportunities and continuously learned a wide variety of skills - all during my first five months of my first ‘real’ job.

During the two year programme, the Graduate Scheme offers a chance to explore all areas of our portfolio, for instance- from Retail to Funeral, Distribution to Corporate Affairs. I am currently in my first six month placement in Retail, whereby I am gaining a robust understanding of the end to end processes, that constitute our Retail division, building solid relationships with colleagues and at present, undertaking a six month Retail project, which has given me ample responsibility and ownership for my personal development and how I shape my project.

My project looks at how we at Midlands Cooperative Society can match our future shoppers’ needs, and to gain an insight I have conducted some primary research. For instance, I have completed over 400 questionnaires, held four listening groups and given talks at local schools and colleges. As a result it would be great to gain your feedback on what you would like from our food stores in the future- as ‘You Matter To Us’, at Midlands Cooperative Society.

If you have any ideas for what you would like from our food stores to improve your shopping experience, we’d like to hear from you! Leave your suggestions in the comments box below.
