Entertain your kids for less this summer

The school summer holidays are here and keeping the kids fed, watered and entertained for six weeks can be a challenge.

We are helping children facing holiday hunger over the summer with the Summer Food Bank campaign: https://www.centralengland.coop/blogs/community/summer-food-bank-appeal-will-help-tackle-the-issue-of-holiday-hunger-for-children

Whatever your situation, the school holidays are inevitably a more expensive time, so here are our top tips for maximising the enjoyment while minimising the cost.

A great place to start is to enter our prize drawer and you could win summer on us! We are giving away £2,000 in Co-op holiday vouchers as well as chances to win £200 in Co-op food vouchers. To find out more and to enter, visit https://www.centralengland.coop/summer

While you’re waiting to find out if you are a winner, you can get free tickets to big attractions and theme parks across the UK (with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket) when you buy selected Cadbury chocolates in store. Look out for promotional packs. In a similar deal, an adult can get free entry with the purchase of an adult or child ticket if they cut out and present a voucher from promotional packs of Kellogg’s cereals, ranging from kids’ multipacks to Bran Flakes. Set yourself up for an exciting day ahead with a delicious breakfast and save enough to pay for another day’s entertainment!

One of the biggest costs for family fun isn’t necessarily the ’fun‘ bit, but the food. Pop out to your local Central England Co-op and you can pick up a great range of packed lunch and picnic foods which will keep everyone energised and happy. Try Co-op Mini Pork, Pickle and Cheese Pies (£1.69 for four), Co-op flat peaches (79p per punnet) and Classic Coca-Cola (£4 for 10x330ml cans).

If you’ve ever joked that the when the ice cream van is playing music, it means it’s run out of ice cream, you’re the kind of person that likes to save money. To please your kids and your budget, we have some new additions to the range of ice creams in store including Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol Ice Cream Lollies (£1.89 for six) and Co-op Rainbow Uni-Cones with their distinctive black cone (£1.69 for four).

For entertaining at home, we have an exciting range of outdoor toys which you’ll want to play with too. Bigger is better when it comes to playing traditional games, so we’ve got Giant Four in a Row (£14.99), Giant Hopscotch (£10.99), and Giant Dominoes (£12.99). For added fun at parties and to test your flexibility, try our wooden limbo game (£18.99) and if you’re heading down to the park, what could be better than a game of rounders? (Wooden Rounders Set £12.99).
