Apple Tarte Tatin

Ingredients

  • 25g (1oz) The Co-operative butter
  • 25g (1oz) caster sugar
  • 10ml (1/2 tbsp) The Co-operative honey
  • 1 red eating apple, cored and sliced
  • about 1/2 x 375g pack puff pastry

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220°C, 425°F, gas mark 7.
     
  2. Melt butter, sugar and honey in a frying pan. Bring to the boil. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until golden. Pour into an 18cm (7in) round cake tin. Arrange apple slices on top.
     
  3. Take 160g (5 3/4oz) of the pastry. Cut 1cm (1/2in) bigger than the tin. Place over the apples. Tuck pastry down the sides on the inside of the tin. Bake for 10–15 minutes or until golden.
     
  4. Allow to cool before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve with cream or ice cream.
