Who are FareShare and how do we work together?

We’ve been working with FareShare Midlands since 2018, ensuring our unsold best before and non-food goods are donated to the FareShare distribution centre and then delivered to those in need in our local communities. The project now donates the equivalent of 4,460 meals a day or 22,132 a week – resulting in over one million meals a year.

Our link-up with FareShare Midlands has also seen us donate over £150,000 to support the creation of a specialist food hub where donations are sorted in Leicester and also help with work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Case Study: The Residents of Fairfield Association

This Buxton based charity works all year round operating a food hub for local residents struggling to access vital essentials, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Our recent £100,000 donation to FareShare Midlands, as part of our Summer of Support for kids campaign, has played a major part in ensuring their residents can continue to benefit from these services and is helping tackle the rising issues surrounding holiday hunger.

“We have now been working with FareShare Midlands for four years now and the support and food they provide has been invaluable, especially during the past few months.

Like all support services, we have been hit hard during the pandemic and have seen interest rise, helping up to 130 people a week. Without the likes of FareShare Midlands and the donation made to them via Central England Co-op, we would have really struggled to respond and make the difference we have locally. Both are amazing organisations.” Lia Roos, Residents of Fairfield Association.
