A Burton Funeral Home is organising a special tea dance to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Somme and raise money for a good cause.

Staff at Wellings Funeral Directors, based in Derby Street, will be donning vintage frocks and smart suits to help boost the coffers of the Royal British Legion.

Members of the public are now being urged to join in the fun from 3pm to 6pm on Friday, 18 November, at Branston Village Hall, in Clays Lane.

Funeral Director Jo Mills said: “We really cannot wait to host this event of live music, dancing, tea, coffee and cakes.

“The fun afternoon will be raising funds for the Royal British Legion and commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Somme.

“We have great support from the likes of Arthur Tipper and Mellow Dramatics and will also have a raffle and a tombola.

“The event looks to be a fantastic occasion and we would love as many people as possible to join us.”

Tickets costs £5 and more information is available by calling 01283 563555.
