CENTRAL ENGLAND CO-OP FOOD STORE IN BIRMINGHAM SET TO PLAY STARRING ROLE IN BBC DAYTIME SOAP OPERA

Central England Co-operative will be hosting actors and crew from the popular BBC TV series Doctors as scenes are set to be filmed inside and outside a popular Birmingham store.

The Stirchley Food Store, in Hazelwell Street, has been handpicked by producers to play a starring role in an upcoming episode of the hit show.

Stars of the soap will be in and around the store for the duration of filming, although the date of this will be kept a closely guarded secret.

Store Manager Jim Cunningham said: “We are really excited about the filming as it is not every day you see stars from TV in your Food Store. We are honoured to have been chosen for something like this and pleased to be able to support with filming.

“It is going to be a great experience to be involved and we are really looking forward to it.”

The show is based around a GP Surgery set in Letherbridge, a fictional West Midlands town in Birmingham, and is filmed and produced at the nearby BBC Drama Village in Selly Oak.

Doctors has been on air for 18 years and has a regular lunchtime slot on the BBC. Scenes shot at Stirchley Food Store are set to be aired later this year.
