Central England Co-op food store is coming home to Kings Norton with a Golden Ticket giveaway

Central England Co-op is currently putting the finishing touches to a new food store in Kings Norton – in a building it has owned since c1933.

When the original Co-op store closed, the space was let to local businesses, who continued to trade there for many years. The food retailer has been looking at schemes to rejuvenate the building over the last 15 years, when 2 years ago planning consent was given to turn the space into a modern food store.

Central England Co-op is very keen to retain as much of the original building as possible, ensuring the significance of the site, and is looking forward to returning back to The Green. The new food store will be a part of the structure, with a secondary store front to let, and 3 first floor flats available above.

The Society will officially open its new store on The Green, Kings Norton, at 9am on Friday, February 9th, with a special ribbon cutting ceremony, and special golden tickets will be given out to the first 50 lucky customers.  Prizes will vary from a 49” Smart LED TV, a soup maker, Bluetooth speaker, Co-operative gift vouchers and Irresistible Fairtrade chocolate bars.

Kings Norton Central England Co-op Store Manager Rachael Pretty said: “This is a very exciting time for everyone in the team and preparations for the big day are well under way.
“Please come and join us at 9am on Friday, February 20, and you could be one of the 50 lucky customers to receive a golden ticket on the official relocation back to The Green.
“There will be a great buzz on opening day and to celebrate the food store launch we will have plenty of special opening offers, we will be talking to customers about membership and how we can support in the local community. We look forward to seeing you there.”

The new food store will provide a wide range of products and services to meet the needs of the local community. Fixtures and fittings include the latest in energy efficient refrigeration and LED lighting.
The Kings Norton Co-operative food store will be open from 7am – 10pm Monday to Sunday. The store offers a wide range of products from everyday necessities to something a little more special. The store offer includes: fresh and fruit and vegetables, an in-store bakery offering breads and pastries, chilled beers and wines, fresh and frozen product, Irresistible product ranges, and a great selection of food to go.
