Central England Co-op has once again teamed up with a popular independent cake producer to support a vital good cause by stocking packs of special fundraising cupcakes in its stores.

The retailer, which has over 260 stores across 16 counties, joined with one of its independent producers Emma’s Country Cakes to stock special NHS Rainbow cupcakes last summer to support our NHS Heroes and raise money for NHS Charities Together.

Following the success of that project, Central England Co-op has now introduced special cupcakes made by Emma’s which will help support its corporate charity Dementia UK.

Customers shopping in the majority of the retailer’s stores can now benefit the charity just by picking up a pack of the delicious cupcakes, with 10p from each pack sold being donated to Dementia UK.

Hannah Gallimore, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Central England Co-op, said: “All of us here have been delighted to support Dementia UK as our corporate charity over the past three years and are proud to have donated over £1.4 million in that time.

“From our partnership we have seen just how important the work Dementia UK and its Admiral Nurse service do for families is and this has only become more apparent during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“The opportunity to work with a wonderful local supplier like Emma’s Country Cakes, with whom we have a great longstanding relationship, for such a good cause is always a pleasure and it means just by shopping with us and picking up a box of these delicious treats our customers and members can support a fantastic charity just when it really needs support.”

Emma Davies, from Emma’s Country Cakes, said she was delighted to work with Central England Co-op on supporting another very worthy cause in these uncertain times.

She said: “It was great to see the success of our special ‘Rainbow Cupcakes’ for the NHS and I’m so glad we have been able to team up with Central England Co-op to support Dementia UK through these special cupcakes.

“I know so many charities and good causes are struggling in these challenging times with many of their usual fundraising routes not open to them so everyone at Emma’s Country Cakes is pleased to be able to give our support to a great charity like Dementia UK through this partnership.”
