Lowestoft Co-operative Travel Branch has been shortlisted in a competition to name the best travel agencies in the British Isles.

The Co-operative Travel, in London Road North, has been selected as one of the top five high street agencies in the East of England region as part of a list of the nation’s best agents put together by industry bible the Travel Trade Gazette.

More than 950 travel agencies and branches put themselves forward for consideration for the gazette’s Top 50 Travel Agencies 2017 – in association with Kuoni - from which a shortlist of 90 finalists across 18 categories has been devised.

On March 13, 2017, the winning 50 agencies that have earned a place in the Top 50 list for 2017 will be announced at a ceremony at The Vox Centre in Birmingham.

Paul Dale, Head of Specialist Businesses at Central England Co-operative, said: “I am so pleased for the colleagues at the Lowestoft branch.

“We now all have our fingers crossed for them and hope they are named in the Top 50 list in March.”

The shortlisting stage was undertaken by a panel of 60 travel suppliers including airlines, tour operators and car hire providers, who rated hopeful agencies according to their business performance, customer service and innovation.

In the next stage of judging, a journalist from the Travel Trade Gazette will visit each shortlisted agency to carry out an assessment.
