Make it a local Christmas with Northamptonshire-brewed tipples available from Central England Co-op

Shoppers at Central England Co-op stores can bring a local flavour to Christmas this year as the retailer is selling a selection of locally-brewed real ales from two Northamptonshire breweries in 15 of the county’s stores.

Customers of Central England Co-op can enjoy locally-brewed real ales and ciders from Saxby Cider and Silverston Brewery.

Saxby’s Cider is based on a family farm in Farndish, a small village on Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire border.

The local firm grows its own apples in the orchards on the farm, which are carefully-selected English cider varieties and dessert fruits which are slowly matured and expertly blended.

The award-winning range of ciders is pressed on the farm using real cider and real fruit juices and no flavourings or syrups.

Initially located on the site of The King's Brewery, in Syresham, which was established in about 1854, the Silverstone Brewery was set up in 2008 to produce real ales.

Ales produced by the brewery range from honey and toffee-flavoured to classic Indian Pale Ale.

Supporting local producers is important to Central England Co-op and the retailer now stocks many locally-sourced products.

Marston Moretaine Food Store Manager Luke Ficken said: “We are really proud at Central England Co-op of continuing our long tradition of working with local suppliers by joining forces with two great Northamptonshire breweries to showcase some great beers and ales.

“With Christmas just around the corner, customers can enjoy a great offering when it comes to beers, wines and spirits, an offering made even better by the addition of some great local creations made just a few miles away.

“We also have some great options in our stores when it comes to pairing our range with food. This is a fantastic opportunity to really make the most of your Christmas dining experience and enjoy a locally-produced, festive drink.”
