A community food store in Leicestershire where colleagues have been going above and beyond to support locals during these uncertain times has been given a fresh new look following an investment of £55,000.

The Central England Co-op in Rothwell Road, Mountsorrel has received a raft of updates to give it a fresher, lighter feel and to include a number of new ranges and features to boost its offering to the local community.

This follows the store’s colleagues working around the clock to ensure vulnerable people across the community have continued to have access to vital food and essentials through the Coronavirus pandemic.

The refreshed store front includes brand new external signage to give it a more modern, fresher look.

The community food store has been undergoing a makeover in recent weeks with changes including:

•            New external fascia

•            An updated product range to better reflect customers’ requirements including an improved food to go range

•            New internal signage and decoration including a feature map of Mountsorrel

Store Manager Sunni Stewart said: “We are so overwhelmed with how the store has been transformed. The feedback we have had from our regular customers and members has just been fantastic. The store looks so much bigger and the map of the village which is now a feature in the store has become a great focal point for the shop.

“The atmosphere and the morale amongst the store team has been brilliant as a result and it has made it feel like all the hard work over the last few months has really been worth it to have what feels like a fresh. new store to come to each day.”

The Mountsorrel Food Store is open every day Monday to Sunday 7am-10pm.

The store has a wide range of products from everyday necessities to something a little more special and also offers a lifesaving defibrillator, cash machine, Collect Plus/Paypoint, car park, Lottery and an instore bakery.
