New funeral director proud to land role helping those in East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire who have lost a loved one

A new funeral director has spoken of her pride after taking on a new role helping families in South Derbyshire and East Staffordshire who have lost a loved one.

Kerry Marcer is now in charge of teams at both JH Grice, in Hatton, and Dove Funeral Service, in Uttoxeter, after being promoted.

The 44-year-old has worked for Central England Co-operative for seven years and, after starting out as a funeral assistant, has now worked her way up to her dream role.

She said: “I first came into the Society as a funeral administrator, but I always said, from day one, that my goal was to be a funeral director.

“I made sure I worked hard and then underwent several training courses that have allowed me to now take on this new role.

“I already know the area well as I used to work at Ward and Brewin, in Swadlincote, and during my time there learned all I needed to know about how to be a good funeral director.

“I have two great teams at both JH Grice and Dove Funeral Service. They do a great job of looking after families who have lost a loved one and have really helped me settle into the role.

“People often ask me about why I wanted to become a funeral director and my answer is job satisfaction.

“It is being able to help families from when they walk through the doors right up to the funeral and beyond.

“I am a big people person and I hope this comes across in the way that I deal with families and ensure they get everything they want.

“I am so proud to be a funeral director and proud to be able to honour the lives of those who have passed away.”

Both JH Grice and Dove Funeral Service offer a 24-hour service, seven days a week.  In addition to arranging funerals, Kerry and both of her teams are also able to offer advice on floral tributes, monumental masonry, funeral stationery, pre-paid funeral plans and probate advice.  The teams can be contacted on 01283 812192 or 01889 564431.
