A Central England Co-operative Funeral Director is celebrating over 25 years of helping families say goodbye to their loved ones.

Ruth Johnson toasted her long-service by talking about her time working for the Society and how she has spent the last 10 years supporting people across Stafford.

The 50-year-old, who oversees Funeral Homes in Stone Road and Queensville, said: “I have a real passion for helping people during their time of need and that is why I worked my way up to be a Funeral Director.

“I like the fact that the role has a lot of variety, variety in the way that you are always helping someone in a different way. This can be from supporting them through putting together the perfect send-off for a loved one or just being there when they need a chat.

“While being a Funeral Director can be hard at times, it is a career that provides great satisfaction and meaning. It also means you meet and work with some great people.

“My plans for the future revolve around me continuing as a Funeral Director in Stafford and continuing to help families say goodbye.”

Away from work, Ruth, who lives in Cannock, likes to unwind by heading to the gym for spin classes, spending time with her grandson and going out with her husband and friends.

Ruth’s Funeral Home in Queensville recently held a special event to mark its rededication following a revamp worth over £110,000.

The revamped branch offers a vastly superior look and feel for families.

The Queensville refit comes after the Society invested nearly £1 million on a brand new Funeral Home in Stone Road, including the purchase of two new vehicles.

Both Funeral Homes offer a 24-hour service, seven days a week.  In addition to arranging funerals, Ruth and her teams are also able to offer advice on floral tributes, monumental masonry, funeral stationery, pre-paid funeral plans, and probate advice.

The team in Queensville can be contacted on 01785 259847 and the Stone Road team can be contacted on 01785 244869.
