Thousands people from across Leicestershire have been handed a festive treat by unwrapping an early Christmas present thanks to Central England Co-operative.

As part of the giveaway, a total of 14,112 prizes were given away including seven 40” Smart LED TVs, smoothie makers, and Nescafé Dolce Gusto coffee machine just days before Christmas Day.

Other customers walked away with hundreds of pounds in Co-operative gift vouchers or an Irresistible Fairtrade chocolate bar after picking up a golden ticket after nipping into store.

A total of 54,432 prizes were handed out to customers and members across 27 stores in just seven days.

Melvyn Norman, who lives in Market Harborough, said he was delighted with his new television.
