Three Co-operative Travel branches spread some festive joy to children in hospital in Christmas

Staff from The Co-operative Travel shops in Bourne, Market Deeping and Spalding have issued a big ‘thank you’ to customers after they helped spread some festive cheer by backing an appeal to support poorly children this Christmas.

The Co-operative Travel stores launched their annual Santa’s Suitcase Christmas gifts appeal in November hoping to bring festive cheer to children in the area.

The branches chose the Amazon Children’s Ward at Peterborough City Hospital to support and colleagues have been overwhelmed by the support from customers and members during the festive season.

Toys, books, games and puzzles were collected as part of the appeal.

Bourne Travel Branch Manager Sarah Mantle said: “The successful Santa’s Suitcase appeal has been running now for several years, but still customers continue to dig deep and supply gifts for poorly children during the festive season.

“It is wonderful to see the community come together to support this appeal and to imagine the difference the donations will make this Christmas.

“We would like to thank our customers, members and friends for helping to make Christmas special for poorly children this festive season.”
