Two groups in Derbyshire handed £3,272 funding boost thanks to Central England Co-op

A vital charity and local football team were among several groups in Derbyshire who have shared a £3,272 community grant thanks to Central England Co-operative.

Sight Support Derbyshire and Brampton Rovers under 11 Football Team shared the payout, with a total of over £44,000 handed out to 25 good causes across 16 counties from the retailer’s Community Dividend Fund.

Sight Support Derbyshire has been awarded £2,522 for vital new computer equipment to help children and adults affected by sight loss from across the area.

The players of Brampton Rovers under 11 Football Team will be donning a new strip next season after a £750 donation.

Jason Flaxman said: “The team will use the money for kit at it will enable the players to participate in football matches wearing suitable kit.

“The team are excited and very grateful to Central England Co-op.”

Grants of between £100 and £5,000 are handed out every three months to a wide range of applicants.

The fund guarantees that at least one per cent of the Society’s trading profit is reinvested in local communities in a bid to help projects to thrive across its trading area of 16 counties from the Midlands to the east coast.
