Central England Co-op teams up with independent producer to stock cupcakes supporting the NHS

Central England Co-op has teamed up with a popular independent cake producer to stock a special pack of cupcakes which will support NHS charities.

The retailer, which has over 240 stores across 16 counties, has announced that it will working with one of its independent producers Emma’s Country Cakes to offer the six pack of ‘Rainbow Cupcakes’ in the majority of its stores from Wednesday, 3 June.

To support our NHS heroes on the frontline during these uncertain times, 10p from each pack sold will be donated to NHS Charities Together’s COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.

Sue McNally, Local Buyer at Central England Co-op, said: “All of us here are so proud of the wonderful, lifesaving work our NHS are doing on the frontline in the communities we serve.

“Therefore, we are delighted to able to work with a great independent producer like Emma’s Country Cakes with whom we have been working for a number of years to stock these special cupcakes to support the NHS and I hope people pick up a pack for a delicious treat while out getting their food and essentials, so a great cause can benefit.”

Emma Davies, from Emma’s Country Cakes, said: “In the current climate we want to help the NHS workers as much as we can which is why we as a company are giving 10p per pack of our special ‘Rainbow Cupcakes’ to the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.

“Everyone at Emma’s Country Cakes is pleased to be offering this donation at this time as we think of those in hospital, their families and the nurses, doctors and all NHS staff that give you hope, carrying you through these tough times.”

This comes as Central England Co-op is currently offering a 10% discount for all NHS workers to say thank you for their efforts working on the frontline to help tackle the Coronavirus.

All NHS workers have to do is show their ID card to receive 10% off all food and other essentials and to get priority access by moving to the front of any external queue when waiting to enter.
