Community groups and good causes share over £3,000 in funding from Central England Co-operative

Over £3,000 of funding has been handed out to support a wide range of community groups and good causes by Central England Co-operative.

Seven groups from across Norfolk, Rutland, Peterborough, Suffolk, and Leicestershire shared the grant from the Eastern Membership and Community Council to support several great initiatives.

A total of £800 will be used to support a charity concert in Melton, an event which is also being supported by colleagues from Richard Barnes Funeral Directors.

A total of £200 worth of new toys were handed over to Little Nippers church group, in Dersingham, with £200 worth of Co-op vouchers donated to a Picnic in the Paddock event in the same area.

Uppingham Men’s Breakfast Club were handed £500, and £600 worth of healthy snacks were presented to Ditchingham Playgroup, near to Bungay.

People attending a special walk to commemorate loved ones in Peterborough will now enjoy water and snacks following the award of £300 of Co-op vouchers.

Lowestoft summer beach activities were boosted following the donation of £535 worth of bottles of water to provide refreshments during the summer months.

Karen Ball, Member and Community Relations Officer, said: “The Co-operative has a long tradition of giving back to the community, and we welcome the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives and education of local people.

“It is really important to have strong links with the local community and I am proud the Eastern Membership and Community Council were able to support these wide and varied projects.”
